Below are verses which intertwine with the above verse:

• 1 Peter 4:8
• 1 Cor 13:5-7
• Psalm 32

Forgiveness is an expression of love. It’s inevitable that at some point in our lives, we will be hurt by a fellow human and we will cause hurt to another. Can you think of a time where forgiveness was extended to you when you were in the wrong? What about a time where someone wronged you? Have you forgiven them?

True forgiveness means that you no longer hold the wrong against that person. It means resisting the urge to bring up the pardoned error to the person whom you have forgiven and to refrain from repeating the instance to other people. Regardless of whether or not someone is remorseful for what they’ve done against you, it is not our duty or right to publicize their mistake.

Love protects, Beloved.

Father, how great Your lovingkindness toward us! The contents of our sin ‘account’ lay open before You and You choose to ‘hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea’ and remember our sins no more – even though You have every right to lord it over us. Thank You for forgiving us. Thank You Jesus for Your all-encompassing love. Lord, please remind us of how much we’ve been forgiven of when we struggle to forgive those around us. Help us to pour out the love that flows down to us from Your throne of grace. Father we commit any hurt or bitterness that has taken up residence in the crevices of our heart, Lord we cry out those frustrations to You and let go of our need to retaliate. Heal our hearts in the might Name of Jesus and guide our words and attitude to reflect Your love Father.

Lord, thank You for being our Defender, Friend and Comforter.

Love You Lord.
