An apt portion for the recent/current happenings. A timelessly relevant couple of verses.
‘To withhold a help that we can render is to participate in the authorship of all the misery that we have failed to relieve. He who neglects to save a life, kills.’ – Alexander MacLaren.
Feigning ignorance will not fool God. Not many of us may directly cross paths with a victim facing physical death, however, there are a variety of ways to help prevent such situations from repeating. The driving force is to be love.
Heavenly Father,
we exalt You because righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne. How amazing to know that as much as You are just, You are love. Father, when the time comes for us to stand before You, may we not repeat the words of Cain – “I know not; am I my brother’s keeper?” but rather may our lives be worthy of a “Well done good and faithful servant” from Your Holy lips. Give us a heart that breaks for injustice and courage to stand against oppression. Help us to be active in love and constant in intercession. Lord, help me to love ‘strangers’ as my brother/sister. Father, forgive us also for the times we have failed to share the Gospel to those who do not know You. Without Christ, we all stumble toward eternal death – everlasting separation from You. Father, lead us to those we are to testify about Your reality, love and offer of abundant life and may our words and actions bear witness to Jesus Christ. Help us to never overlook or cast a blind eye to any soul.
We all need forgiveness. We all need redemption. We need You Jesus.
Love You Lord.
P.S. Is there anyone you know that does not know/believe in Christ? How constant in prayer are you for them?
