‘In biblical times, a city whose walls are broken down has no defense against an enemy. And the person who has no discipline, willpower, or self-restraint (rule) has no defense against anger, lust, impatience, or other unchecked emotions. Without self-control, we are wide-open to sin.’
– David Chancey.

Father,

please cultivate the fruit of self-control in us through Your Holy Spirit. Show us where we must exercise restraint – whether it be in what we eat, drink, watch, our speech, our activities or lack thereof. May our desire for You and Your will subdue our fleshly desires.

Love You Lord.
