A snare is typically a trap for catching birds and it can also describe ‘something by which one is entangled, involved in difficulties, or impeded’.

Jesus says in Luke 12:4-7, “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Are not five sparrows sold for 2 copper coins (around 60 Aus cents)? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

Beloved, don’t be afraid to live the Christ centred life that God has called you to live because of the possible opinions, mockery, unbelief & persecution that may be thrown your way. You may be excluded, ridiculed, & perhaps even lose relationships for walking in the narrow way which leads to life. But that’s okay. The Maker & Lover of your soul walks beside you, holding you and guiding you.

We must remember Who goes before us, Who stands behind us, Who surrounds us with His love – the God of angel armies, the LORD of Hosts, the great I AM. When God calls you to do/say something, or refrain from saying/doing so, especially in the midst of others, what is your response? Do you rely on the revealed character and will of God and obey with trust in Him? Or, do you hesitate, ignore, & make an excuse because you worry about how the person before you might respond? Are you afraid that you will be shamed?

Gracious Lord,

thank You so much that Your Holy Spirit instils power, love, & a sound mind. Thank You Lord that Your perfect love casts out all fear. Fearing You silences all other fears. Lord, fear of fellow man creeps in, remind & empower us through Your Spirit of the bold obedience that Jesus displayed. Help me to smile in the face of opposition & resistance for the Enemy’s turf is being invaded with Your truth & love.

Help us to be firmly fixed on YOU.
