Here’s a few fun (but relevant) facts about ants:

  • Ants are very social insects, and they divide jobs among different types of ants in each colony. The worker ants take out the colony’s trash, hunt for food and supplies, or defend the nest.
  • Ants can lift 3 times their body weight of particles of food. They carry these all the way to their nest and come back quickly to collect more. They do not rest until they have completed their task of gathering enough food for the entire colony.
  • Ants will protect aphids (small insects) from natural predators and shelter them in their nests from heavy rain showers in order to gain a constant supply of honeydew.
  • Just as humans are able to function because of all of the various organs that comprise our bodies, individual ants function as parts of a larger organism. There are several individual parts (ants) that fit together to cooperate and accomplish amazing feats. Rather than working separately, they function as parts of a collective whole, doing what is best for the army as a collective.

Determined, hardworking, diligent, united and productive!! If God has designed such miniscule creatures to accomplish such feats then how much more can we – His inheritance, made in His image – achieve through Christ Who gives us strength.

So when we sense our motivations stooping, those times when we are just ‘not in the mood’, when challenges crop up, when lethargy tempts us into unproductivity, let’s remember this tiny specimen which faithfully works through rain or shine and press on for the good of its colony. Let’s remember Who we’re serving, the Army we’re part of and that ‘what we do now, echoes in eternity’.

Lord, thank You that You have created each of us with a divine purpose. Please forgive us for the times that we have wile away Your precious gift of time and guide us to make use of this gift in ways that bear eternal fruit for Your glory! Father, I thank You for Your Holy Spirit which leads, instructs and strengthens us. Thank You Jesus for showing us first hand, how to be diligent in serving and spending time with the Father.

You are amazing.

Love you Lord.
